Bill has been in several bands over the years. He mostly plays a Fender stratocaster (62 model) but also occasionally plays a Gibson 335. His main amp is a Fender Deluxe Reverb but he also uses an old 1959 Fender Bassman.

He is also still playing with Pressure Drop, a popular Melbourne band from the 1970s and early 1980s. The old band members remain in contact and are recording together.

In his spare time he is a Professor of Economics and Director of a research centre at the University of Newcastle called CofFEE.
