Andrew began playing guitar as a teenager, and soon developed an eclectic style, with influences ranging from Bach, Hendrix, Kottke and Dylan. By his early 20s he had served his apprenticeship as both a guitarist and bass player in several bands, gigging regularly around Sydney during the vibrant pub rock scene of the 1980s. It was during this period he purchased his beloved late 1960s Fender Precision Bass - his tool of trade with The Blues Box.

While conversant in styles ranging from rock, folk and classical, Andrew’s first love is authentic blues, a musical idiom he believes underpins 20th century popular music. His previous band was The Mood, an original alternative folk rock outfit that released a CD - And the sky is cracked - in 2004.

Sometimes, Andrew doubles as Dr Mood Evans and opens shows for The Blues Box with an acoustic set of his original songs playing guitar and banjo.
